Having a baby is less risky at home. Please learn more about home birth before trying to inject fear into the normal process of birth. Most things that go wrong with childbirth these days have to do with interventions that happen in a hospital. Just as with her Mom, hospitals go into full "Nazi" mode and impose their rules on people who come within their walls.
In the UK where I live, they let you go natural unless there is risk to mum or baby. I have 2 friends who needed an emergency C-section because the baby's heartrate was not good. 1, he would be dead or brain damaged if born at home as he needed alot of help to get breathing.
I believe your friends babies needed help, but I am always curious if they needed that help because of some intervention that was done as hospital protocol or just because some doctor or nurse believed in it. Were the mothers induced? Were those mothers given drugs like Demerol for pain, or were they being given drugs to bring on labor? Such as Pitocin, dinoprostone, misoprostol, and prostaglandins. Was the mother at ease or was she scared to death? I don't believe that those babies had problems all on their own. But of course I could be wrong. Experience has taught me to look for the causes when a mother is told that there is a problem. One of the way that doctors and nurses force compliance on Moms is by saying "you do not want to be responsible for something going wrong with yuor baby do you? It takes a very brave woman to say "I will risk it." However, some women who trust their own bodies and know about birth DO say that.
